But what really worries people like French and those on the left isn’t that Trump will fail. It’s that he’s off to an outstanding start and has the wind as his back to succeed.

And by that, we don’t mean he will live up to the left’s gross mischaracterization of Trump as a fascist, but that he will actually do what he’s promised: gut the administrative state, restore order to the southern border, and get the economy moving again.

Think about what Trump was up against and what he accomplished in his first term.

After winning in 2016, Trump struggled to appoint his team. On inauguration day, he’d named only 29 of his 660 executive department slots, and ended up with several Obama holdovers. […]

Is California Turning Purple? https://redwave.press/is-california-turning-purple/ https://redwave.press/is-california-turning-purple/#respond Tue, 19 Nov 2024 07:48:37 +0000 https://redwave.press/is-california-turning-purple/ Two days after Donald Trump won the election, Calif. Gov. Gavin Newsom announced a special legislative session to “safeguard California values and fundamental rights in the face of an incoming Trump administration.”

But Newsom could have a fight on his hands with Californians who are clearly tired of Newsom’s and his fellow leftists’ “values.”

Almost across the board, California voters rejected leftist ballot initiatives, often by wide margins. “State voters took a hammer to the most progressive propositions,” noted I&I contributor Thomas Buckley.

Examples:

  • After watching previous minimum wage increases devastate local businesses and do little to improve the welfare of unskilled workers, a ballot initiative to hike the state’s minimum wage to $18 lost by a 51% to 49% margin.
  • Even after Bidenflation drove up housing costs, voters rejected an initiative that would have let cities and counties impose strict rent control laws. Back in 1995, the state approved the Costa-Hawkins Rental Housing Act, which blocked cities and counties from imposing rent control on certain types of housing or when units become vacant. By a whopping 60%-40% margin, Californians voted to keep that 1995 law in place.
  • A proposal to lower the threshold for local bond measures from a two-thirds supermajorty to a 55% majority went down in flames, with 55% of Californians voting against it. […]

The Battle Was Won. The War’s Just Begun https://redwave.press/the-battle-was-won-the-wars-just-begun/ https://redwave.press/the-battle-was-won-the-wars-just-begun/#respond Mon, 11 Nov 2024 22:30:58 +0000 https://redwave.press/the-battle-was-won-the-wars-just-begun/ So you thought that a 312-vote Electoral College victory, an improbable popular-vote triumph, a flip of the U.S. Senate and, as of this writing, retention of a GOP House majority settled matters?

You thought common sense and true normalcy would return to government, society, and the culture?

As if.

Don’t kid yourselves. The least intelligent, least articulate, and most incompetent presidential candidate ever may have failed to attain the Democrats’ customary deep blue state-fueled popular majority.

But the reality is that America remains a deeply divided, essentially 50-50 nation. Meaning that: […]

What’s In And What’s Out After Trump’s Stunning Victory https://redwave.press/whats-in-and-whats-out-after-trumps-stunning-victory/ https://redwave.press/whats-in-and-whats-out-after-trumps-stunning-victory/#respond Thu, 07 Nov 2024 23:14:56 +0000 https://redwave.press/whats-in-and-whats-out-after-trumps-stunning-victory/ For more than a year, pundits in the mainstream media were feeding the public a steady diet of catchphrases, aphorisms, mantras, and predictions. Almost none of them turned out to be true.

But being wrong has never caused elite media types to self-reflect. They just issue a new set of catchphrases, aphorisms, mantras, and predictions.

So, rather than wait for them, we decided to make our own predictions. We will have much more to say about this election, about the unprecedented legal attacks, the vitriol hurled at half of American voters, about any violence that is unleashed by the left, about where the Democrats go from here, and so on.

But for now, here is our list of what will be out and what will be in after this truly historic presidential election.

  • Out: Questioning election results is anti-Democratic!
  • In: Trump stole the election!!
  • Out: Democracy is on the ballot!
  • In: Democracy is not over!!
  • Out: Election fraud is not a real problem!
  • In: Trump stole the election!! […]

They’re saying things like:

“The stench of fascism is in the air,” and

He wants to “replace the Bill of Rights with fascist precepts lifted verbatim from Mein Kampf,” and

He “displays the supremacist ideology of Nazi Germany.’’ […]

Even Dem Voters Show Signs Of ‘Buyer’s Remorse’ Over Party’s Unprecedented Electoral Moves: I&I/TIPP Poll https://redwave.press/even-dem-voters-show-signs-of-buyers-remorse-over-partys-unprecedented-electoral-moves-ii-tipp-poll/ https://redwave.press/even-dem-voters-show-signs-of-buyers-remorse-over-partys-unprecedented-electoral-moves-ii-tipp-poll/#respond Mon, 21 Oct 2024 19:10:58 +0000 https://redwave.press/even-dem-voters-show-signs-of-buyers-remorse-over-partys-unprecedented-electoral-moves-ii-tipp-poll/ As Election Day looms and polls tighten up, a solid majority of Americans remain unhappy with the Democratic Party’s machinations to remove President Joe Biden as its candidate and replace him with Vice President Kamala Harris. And it’s not strictly partisan. Many Democrats are also upset at how the party switched candidates, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows.

As Harris continues to struggle, the national online I&I/TIPP Poll of 1,240 registered voters indicates lingering widespread disappointment with the Democratic Party’s maneuvers to get rid of the age-impaired Biden last July.

The poll asked voters whether they agreed or disagreed with the following three statements:

  1. “The process the Democratic Party used to select its nominee for President did not yield the strongest candidate.”
  2. “The process the Democratic Party used to select Kamala Harris as its nominee was undemocratic.”
  3. “I lost significant faith in the Democratic Party because it did not disclose Biden’s health issues during the primary process.”

For the first question, 58% said they either “agree strongly” (41%) or “agree somewhat” (17%). (Numbers on all calculations might not add up exactly due to rounding). At the same time, just 32% said they disagreed. […]Even Dem Voters Show Signs Of ‘Buyer’s Remorse’ Over Party’s Unprecedented Electoral Moves: I&I/TIPP Poll

Voters Say Harris’ Policy Flip-Flops on Fracking, Immigration Are ‘Politically Motivated’: I&I/Tipp Poll https://redwave.press/voters-say-harris-policy-flip-flops-on-fracking-immigration-are-politically-motivated-ii-tipp-poll/ https://redwave.press/voters-say-harris-policy-flip-flops-on-fracking-immigration-are-politically-motivated-ii-tipp-poll/#respond Tue, 15 Oct 2024 04:14:42 +0000 https://redwave.press/voters-say-harris-policy-flip-flops-on-fracking-immigration-are-politically-motivated-ii-tipp-poll/ Vice President Kamala Harris’ past strong opposition to fracking and to former President Donald Trump’s “border wall” appears to have undergone a radical shift in recent weeks. But voters don’t think the shift is real. Indeed, more than half now call Harris’ abrupt policy changes on these hot-button issues “politically motivated,” the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows.

With the election now merely weeks away, voters are looking at candidates stances on key issues to decide how they vote. But they also understand that, in politics, promises made on the campaign trail have a way of never being seen again once the candidate is elected.

Are voters having such a moment of recognition right now with Harris, who never faced primary voters and thus never had to fully explain all of her policy positions in detail?

It sure looks that way.

The national online I&I/TIPP Poll of 977 likely voters, taken from Oct.2-Oct.4, shows voters are highly suspicious of Harris and her recent policy changes. The poll has a +/-3.2 percentage point margin of error. […]

Is Anyone Here Competent? Fast on Helene’s heels, we now have another disaster hitting the U.S.: The longshoreman strike that now threatens to shut down much of the U.S. economy.

And very conspicuously, Joe Biden did nothing about it. No jawboning. No ideas. No attempt to cool tempers and bridge differences to get a deal. Apparently Biden’s leaving it to others as he whiles away the remainder of his only term as president at his beloved Rehoboth Beach vacation home.

Kind of like his administration’s reaction to the devastation from Hurricane Helene, the second-deadliest hurricane of this century. A complete failure.

As for the port shutdown, Biden as president has the authority and political clout to help mediate a dangerous strike that has both economic and national security implications. But he did nothing to stop the potentially devastating walkout. He apparently has left it in the hands of anonymous aides and incompetent Cabinet members to deal with the mess. […]

Kamala’s Project 2025 — Talk About Scary https://redwave.press/kamalas-project-2025-talk-about-scary/ https://redwave.press/kamalas-project-2025-talk-about-scary/#respond Fri, 27 Sep 2024 16:52:03 +0000 https://redwave.press/kamalas-project-2025-talk-about-scary/ After being beaten over the head for months by Democrats about “Project 2025” – about which the left has mounted an unprecedented disinformation campaign – Donald Trump has finally figured out how to respond. And it’s a doozy.

Up until now, all Trump would say about Project 2025 is that he didn’t know anything about it. That left the door open for Democrats to say whatever they wanted about that effort and claim it’s a Trump plan.

Project 2025 was never a Trump plan. The book Democrats keep parading around is called “Mandate for Leadership,” which the conservative Heritage Foundation has published every four years since 1980.

It is and always has been meant as a guide for any incoming administration to policies that conservatives endorse. No one outside of policy wonks knew about it, much less read it. And in the 44 years since the first edition came out, only two presidents have used it – Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump – both of whom implemented pro-growth tax cuts, cut back the regulatory Leviathan, and spurred strong, widely shared, economic growth. Kamala Harris Makes Dan Quayle Look Like a Superhero https://redwave.press/kamala-harris-makes-dan-quayle-look-like-a-superhero/ https://redwave.press/kamala-harris-makes-dan-quayle-look-like-a-superhero/#respond Fri, 27 Sep 2024 10:54:58 +0000 https://redwave.press/kamala-harris-makes-dan-quayle-look-like-a-superhero/ If you want an idea of just how inept Kamala Harris has been as vice president, measure her against former Vice President Dan Quayle – the guy that the left universally berated as a pampered half-wit.

That characterization of Quayle was completely unfair. But when it comes to Harris, well, you be the judge.

Quayle’s approval ratings were, like Harris’, in the basement when he was VP. There was constant chatter among Republicans that George H.W. Bush should dump him. Few thought he was qualified to be president. Both he and Harris had privileged backgrounds and got a start on their careers more through connections than talent.

But the similarities end there.

Quayle’s unpopularity was the result of a relentless campaign by Democrats and the press to attack his qualifications. Harris earned her unpopularity by being unlikable and ineffectual. […]
