Back in 1995, the state approved the Costa-Hawkins Rental Housing Act, which blocked cities and counties from imposing rent control on certain types of housing or when units become vacant. By a whopping 60%-40% margin, Californians voted to keep that 1995 law in place.
• A proposal to lower the threshold for local bond measures from a two-thirds supermajorty to a 55% majority went down in flames, with 55% of Californians voting against it. […]

As Harris continues to struggle, the national online I&I/TIPP Poll of 1,240 registered voters indicates lingering widespread disappointment with the Democratic Party’s maneuvers to get rid of the age-impaired Biden last July.

The poll asked voters whether they agreed or disagreed with the following three statements:

1. “The process the Democratic Party used to select its nominee for President did not yield the strongest candidate.”
2. “The process the Democratic Party used to select Kamala Harris as its nominee was undemocratic.”
3. “I lost significant faith in the Democratic Party because it did not disclose Biden’s health issues during the primary process.”

And very conspicuously, Joe Biden did nothing about it. No jawboning. No ideas. No attempt to cool tempers and bridge differences to get a deal. Apparently Biden’s leaving it to others as he whiles away the remainder of his only term as president at his beloved Rehoboth Beach vacation home.

As for the port shutdown, Biden as president has the authority and political clout to help mediate a dangerous strike that has both economic and national security implications. Up until now, all Trump would say about Project 2025 is that he didn’t know anything about it. That left the door open for Democrats to say whatever they wanted about that effort and claim it’s a Trump plan.
