The New York Times has admitted that the Biden-Harris administration is responsible for the most massive “immigration surge” in US history and that more than half of those who entered the US since 2021 have done so illegally.
“The immigration surge since 2021 has been the largest in US history, surpassing even the levels of the late 1800s and early 1900s. Total net migration — the number of people coming to the country minus the number leaving — will likely exceed eight million people over the past four years, government statistics suggest,” senior Times writer David Leonhardt noted Wednesday.
The Times used data from the Census Bureau and the Congressional Budget Office to tabulate its results and acknowledged that even during the peak years of mass migration to the US via Ellis Island, today’s numbers surpass those of that era. The article also confirmed that a record number of people living in the US were born in another country. It’s 15.2 percent today and was 14.8 percent in 1890.
The reason for the mass immigration is entirely due to “President [Joe] Biden’s welcoming immigration policy … During his 2020 campaign, Biden encouraged more people to come to the US, and he loosened several policies after taking office,” Leonhardt wrote, dismissing Biden administration claims that “outside events, such as the turmoil in Haiti, Ukraine and Venezuela, have been the main cause of the surge.”
Nearly two-thirds of the immigration was also illegal. The Times acknowledged that “[o]f the roughly eight million net migrants who came to the US over the past four years, about five million — or 62 percent — were unauthorized, according to an estimate by Goldman Sachs.” […]
