Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has entered the New York City mayoral race, announcing his bid on Saturday.
The former New York governor enters the mayor’s race as a perceived frontrunner as New York Mayor Eric Adams has been facing controversy in his term for being investigated for alleged bribery.
Cuomo made the announcement via X, emphasizing the need of someone with experience in order to lead the city. He cited issues with crime as well as others for the reason why he needs to be elected, and said that he can help “turn the city around.”
“The city just feel threatening, out of control,” Cuomo said in the 17-minute video. “These conditions exist not as an act of God, but rather as an act of our political leaders. Or more precisely, the lack of intelligent action by many of our political leaders.”
